Vera was born in Germany, graduating in 1997 as engineer of architecture and interior architecture and completing her education with an internship in the New York architecture office of David Ling.
After working for a few years for international design consultancies, Vera decided to establish her own practice located in Germany in 2001. In 2011, she was approached by an international design consultancy, moved to Zurich and later joined FRHI as Global Interior Designer and Brand Manager for Swissotel. In 2014, she was assigned by Studio Matteo Thun in Milan as Project Manager and Senior Interior Designer.
In 2015, Vera joined Marriott International Holding in Frankfurt as Director of Design and Technical Services for Europe and Eastern Europe and in May 2016, moved to Dubai to work as creative Head of Design and Architecture for Albal Design Studio, winning the Harper’s Bazaar Award 2018 for her light feature “Flow” for Lasvit.
After joining dwp as Design Director in Kuala Lumpur, she decided to focus on her own company, XO Atelier, founded in November 2018 and located in Hong Kong. XO Atelier is opening a second studio in Kuala Lumpur and is specialized on hospitality and commercial design as well as product design and manufacturing. “After nearly 23 years in different studios, it was time to create a workplace which lives the values, and not only keeps them as letters on the wall. We keep it like Saul Bass: “We want to make beautiful things, even if nobody cares“.
