In 2021, what are you hoping and planning for? Take time to think deliberately about it and to plan.

I've always enjoyed the last week of the year, before the New Year kicks in. I take this final week to reflect upon the year that's been. To think about what went well, what could have gone better, and why. What were my strengths, and what areas do I need to work on.

During my reflections, I note what was important...and what really wasn't. Who was instrumental, and whom should I diplomatically and respectfully let go? Much time can be spent pursuing things, and people that really donโ€™t align with our core values, and donโ€™t necessarily serve a purpose for where we want to be heading in life. In fact, if weโ€™re not careful, they can be real distractions, and at worst, even toxic to some degree.

The new year for me is like shedding an old skin. Metaphorically, stepping out of an old lining and walking into a fresh, new time on a fresh calendar. There's the sense of anticipation of what the new year will hold, but more importantly, what I'd like it to hold. Itโ€™s about starting out the year with a real sense of purpose and alignment. For me, authenticity is imperative.

I ponder over possible opportunities. I examine my current paradigm in thinking and behaving, and where itโ€™s currently placing me, and then examine a paradigm shift that would place me where Iโ€™d rather be. And from those thoughts, I start to flesh out my goals and the required steps to achieving each of them. Success in intentional and goals without a plan to achieving each of them will simply remain a wish.

And in amongst my reflection, pondering and planning, I stop for a while to think about and be grateful for what I have.

In 2021, what are you hoping and planning for? Take time to think deliberately about it and to plan. Whatever it might be, wishing you a happy, healthy, and prosperous year ahead.
