BEHIND THE SCENES: Maja Kozel gives us exclusive insight into her current projects
I am currently on six projects, one charity project called Surge for Water, and on the side, I made a few sketches for a competition. I love how the projects I am working on are so diverse, from a villa interior to an office space, a training center/showroom and a café interior and last but not least the Charity competition where together with Hernan Hoentsch we are designing a floor lamp, which will be auctioned at the charity event in December.
Three of the projects are in the final stage, two of them (one office interior and one F&B outlet) in the construction phase and one at the concept stage. To be honest, all of the phases are in a different way exciting. The concept part is great as this is where your creativity can flourish; the construction phase is the time where you would need to be more solution driven. When a project is finalized it gives me a content feeling when the client is proud and satisfied with their new space.
Pastryology is one of the projects, which is in construction phase at the moment. Pastryology is a café with desserts and specialty coffee, located at Mina Rashid. When I got commissioned to work on this project a few months ago I was super excited, as the concept of the café was something different. The interesting part of the design stage is that we were working with four reused, raw shipping containers, which was something quite unusual. After the concept design & detailed drawing package, the client and I selected the contractor who is currently working on site. I love the period where projects are becoming realised, as you can slowly see the design being moulded into shape.
Can’t wait to share the end result with everyone!
